Annotated Bibliography of Economic consequences of failed autonomous adaptation to extreme floods: A case study from Bangladesh
Younus,
M. A. F., & Harvey, N. (2014). Economic consequences of failed autonomous
adaptation to extreme floods: A case study from Bangladesh. Local Economy,

This
journal article, Younus and Harvey (2014) focused on sustainable strategy of
autonomous crop adaptation in Bangladesh. The authors argued that autonomous
adaptation is an important policy response option. On the other hand, the authors
found that in response to flood events, economic consequences are very high
when autonomous adaptation is failed. The authors concluded that urgent action
is needed to improve the sustainable adaptation capacity at community level to
mitigate food and human insecurity in the foreseeable future to cope with
extreme floods under a regime of climate change.
This
journal article serves as an excellent reflection of autonomous adaptation and
impacts on future development planning process in response to extreme flood
events. Overall, this journal article is thorough, descriptive and well
researched; it includes failure effects of autonomous and its economic
consequences. This article could be potentially useful to support my rebuttal
argument about the climate concern that the industry alternatively needs to
address.
