Summary of "A Scary Year for Climate Change"
In
the article, “A Scary Year for Climate Change”, Russell (2019) stated that
political leaders should commit to set strategies to solve climate change
because ecosystem and economic development are in threat. The author explained
few critical aspects of the increasingly warmer planet such as how it hampers
human life, its prosperity and how the changes in the earth’s climate is driven
by human activities particularly fossil fuel burning, which increases the
global temperature. Russell (2019) also reported that the use of fossil fuels
in the last few decades has also affected world economic growth. However, she suggested
that sustainable land management, technological transformation, and mitigation
strategies can prevent global warming. Russell (2019) observed some of the
obstacles to solve climate change are a lack of leadership and lack of people’s
belief. She concluded that fighting climate change requires immediate support
from wealthy countries and influential global leaders.
