The authors argued that autonomous adaptation is an important policy response option. On the other hand, the authors found that in response to flood events, economic consequences are very high when autonomous adaptation is failed. The authors concluded that urgent action is needed to improve the sustainable adaptation capacity at community level to mitigate food and human insecurity in the foreseeable future to cope with extreme floods under a regime of climate change.
